After listening to and surveying our customers, Go Pro Cayman has decided to cross market two closely intertwined sports, diving and surfing. We all know that a great dive is a huge adrenaline rush and riding your first wave is addictive. What better way to unshackle your mind by combining the adventure, the rush, and the lifestyle that both diving and surfing offers.
Cayman Diving College has teamed up with the Surf Team from Black Pearl Surf Park to offer Caymans first dual Dive N Surf package. The best part is that we haven’t raised any of our prices in 2012!! That’s right; the same prices but with this great new add on. The surf coaches from Black Pearl use innovative and progressive methods of teaching which will make the learning process fun. Trust us, these boys know how to surf!
Your first session will cover the elements of the surfboard and accessories along with a safety review and identifying surfing hazards. You’ll also learn if you have a goofy stance or a natural stance as you learn how to get up on a surfboard.
Next you’ll experience riding under and over magical blue curls of water as you are introduced to the Black Pearl Surf Machine. This self contained wave is generated by a continuous flow of water which can vary from 10,000 gallons per minute up to 150,000 gallons per minute. This is a thrilling experience that combines balance, strength, skill and poise to create an adrenaline-pumping experience that you won’t soon forget.
You’ll also have the opportunity of putting your new found skills in to real practice as you surf some of Grand Caymans known surf spots. Depending on the time of year, will dictate the sizeof the surf in Caymans. Most swells average 3-5’with the exception of our NW’ers which can be much bigger. Some of the more popular surf spots are along 7-mile beach during a NW’er, East End, Mariners Cove, South Sound and Cobolt Coast.
The amount of surfing will vary with each Dive N Surf package, but they will all average 2 sessions per week up until the professional level of diving takes place. The Dive N Surf packages are included with our “Open Water to Divemaster” course, our “Open Water to Instructors” course, the “Advanced to Instructors” course and the “Rescue to Instructor” course. No surfing will be available during any of the Instructors Development Course, the Instructors Exams, or during Instructor Specialty training.
